What is this?
DBR has historically operated on three legacy septic systems, which were recently replaced by one new modern system.
How does it work?
The waste from your lot flows to a central sewer line which runs down the middle of the park, and ends up at the [what do we call this?] in the meadow. [What happens in the meadow?]
Once [the waste has been processed], it is pumped up the hill to a drainfield, which is located near the Storage sheds at the top of the Nature Trail
Tips and requests
Because a septic system operates biologically, it's critically important to observe the following guidelines to avoid putting items down your sink or toilet that bacteria cannot digest, or that disrupts their environment. Please make sure all of your renters and guests are aware of these guideline too.
Toilets
Absolutely nothing except human waste and one-ply or septic safe toilet paper may ever be flushed! Avoid things like cleaning wipes, facial tissue, paper towels, napkins, sanitary napkins, Tampax, or cigarette butts.
This one bears repeating - PLEASE DO NOT FLUSH WIPES! Even those that say "septic safe" do not break down fast enough for our system and they clog our septic lines.
Use septic safe toilet paper (see list below).
Your cat scoopings go in the trash.
Sink drains
Only water should ever go down your sink drain! Avoid things like food residue, grease and coffee grounds.
Please use a strainer in your sinks to keep grease and food residue from going down the drain.
Do not use any products containing formaldehyde. Caustic drain openers and yeast can also be disruptive and can cause problems with our system.
Do not allow water from washing paint brushes to go down your drain.
