What is this?

Our recycling program is a sign of our commitment to care for the earth, reduce costs for waste disposal and live as sustainably as possible. We rely on all Club members and a group of dedicated volunteers to ensure that our recycling system is consistently and efficiently maintained.

How does it work?

The Recycling Team has provided bins for recycling mixed paper, aluminum cans and plastic bottles in an area adjacent to the Lower Restroom as well as near the garbage bins at the entrance of the Park. Flattened corrugated cardboard may be recycled in a large light colored container next to those recycle bins as well. Club members are asked to sort and place their recyclables into these gray, green and blue bins.

Volunteers from the Recycling Team collect recyclables daily from both drop-off points and load full bins onto the recycling trailer near the entrance.

Regularly (approximately every other week) a group of volunteers load the corrugated cardboard onto the trailer with full recycle bins and prepare it to travel to Jefferson County Recycling Center in Port Townsend where the volunteers unload our recyclables there.

Tips and Requests

It is critical that Club Members refer to the most recent Jefferson County Recycling Flyer (posted on this page) to learn what items are acceptable for recycling. When non-recyclables are put in bins, volunteers have to take time to separate items that cannot be taken to the Recycling Center.
